Wanted – Family stories and pictures

November 30, 2006 by

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.  We had a lovely day visiting Dave’s family in New Hampshire.

I would like to encourage everyone to share their family stories and pictures.  It is a great idea.  I am looking forward to seeing this site filled with family pictures.  Kevin, why don’t you post that great picture of your whole family that was taken this year, the one with each family in their color of t-shirts.  Such a great picture should be up on this page.

Dave and I hare having a nice winter in Maine, but it doesn’t feel like winter yet, we are still waiting for it to show.  J

Remember – Please send your family stories and pictures to either Kevin or me.

Hugs,  Nancy (Albright) Bolton

A Couple of New Entries

October 11, 2006 by

We have a couple of new entries containing family news and photos.  I hope to follow Nancy’s example with info about my family.  I am sure we will have my mom’s info soon as well.  Right, mom?  If anything looks incomplete or could be fleshed out, let me know and I will work on it.  (Provide me the info too!)  LOL.  For example, I think we need more info about Jason as well as info about Nancy’s grandkids!  Let’s build this up!

It is starting to sound like Palm Springs is the way to go for this reunion.  But we still have tons of people who could weigh in with their opinions and options and stuff.

I know that the reunion my wife and I are going to in the summer of 2008 in Texas will be around the 4th of July.  So if we can have the dates for this reunion be around that time (maybe a week after?) then Dawn and I could try and make this reunion a part of that trip as well.

Much love to everyone!

Kevin

Attending Family Reunion: Unknown

The first family member to post information about themselves will actually go to Nancy! Hopefully, I will get my stuff upnot too long from now. Here is what she writes:

“Hi Family,

As the eldest of all the cousins I thought I would help get the ball rolling with this posting to the family bio section. My husband, Dave, and I are retired and we are traveling, seeing the country, in our RV.

Nancy And Dave and a RV

It has been wonderful. One of the greatest things has been the opportunity to visit and reacquaint with family. We have been on the road for a year and a half so far and have only traveled through-out the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states. So we are looking forward to getting to California to see Aunt Janet and Aunt Helen again, and meet up with more cousins. It would be really nice if we could get this family reunion idea to actually happen. We would be there in a heartbeat.

I have a son, Jason. (Click on link to get his info.) And I hope he will be able to join us when we have our family reunion.

I feel very fortunate to be a grandparent. We have six grandchildren, from my husband’s son and daughter, who I try to spoil at every opportunity. Three of our grandchildren are in Phoenix, AZ, and three are in Nashville, TN. I also have two more grandchildren in Ohio from my ex-stepsons.

As far as hobbies go, when we are not sight-seeing we are either reading or doing some kind of arts & craft project. I like to make hand-made gifts whenever possible. I enjoy working with paper-crafts or doing watercolors and toll painting. My husband does stained glass and enjoys crafting things with his scroll saw (although we have found it is difficult to do these things as we travel).

As we travel, we are looking for that perfect place to settle some day after we are done with traveling. We lived in Phoenix for the last 15 years and retired from there. Arizona, the state has some nice areas, plus the grandchildren would be close by. But Eastern Tennessee, with the beautiful Appalachian Mountains, also peaked our interest. And I just loved DC with all the cultural events and art museums. Anyway, we have a lot more country to see before we will make any decisions of that type. I can see that it could be a difficult decision someday, but that day is a long way down the road. We have a lot more of the country to see yet, and we are not in any great hurry. We like to spend a good amount of time in an area if we like it to really get to know what it might be like to live there. We liked the picturesque Maine seacoast, so we are going to go back there this winter to hibernate and enjoy the snow while we are still in the Northeast, and before we head to the southern and western states. We are not exactly sure which direction we will go after Maine, but it might be to see the southern states of Georgia, Florida and the Gulf Coast Highway.

So that’s about it for us. We hope to hear from everyone else thru this family page that Kevin has set up for all of us to use to keep in touch.”

Attending Family Reunion: Sounds like a Definite!

Place Holder

October 5, 2006 by

Just adding a post for adding a category for family news … (All About the Families). This category will contain news about each individual in immediate families and extended families with pictures hopefully. I am also hoping this will extend to our history as well — news about our ancestors, what life was like, locations, old pictures or clippings, etc.

If you have stuff to add, please send me e-mail with any attachments and I will post it all unless you have been added as an editor of this blog as well, then obviously you can add stuff yourself.

I will be bugging people for this information in the future! So be on your toes! LOL!

Palm Springs (?)

October 5, 2006 by

It is looking like a few people are up for Palm Springs. While that may be far for us, it might be the place for most people to attend and that is what we are trying to accomplish. I need to talk to my wife and find out when the DeVault Family Reunion is. It is possible that we could take two weeks. Go to one reunion, go to AZ to see Mark and them and from there go to Palm Springs to attend some of the Albright Family Reunion. But that would mean making the timing of this event close to what we might already have going on.

Once we have more people, we can see if we want to finalize on Palm Springs as being the place to converge at for the reunion. It is definitely a plus that we have someone there (Susan) who has experience coordinating events.

Post your comments and any questions or issues about location of this reunion please.

I am going to fill out more of this site for more info. I have a category for Reunion News so people can jump straight there for news on that. I thought I would add a category about Family News as well … a place for people to post news about themselves and their immediate families. I don’t know about y’all, but I sure don’t know half the people that’ll be there! LOL. I’ll be one of the first to post to this category.

So far, we have these people who know about this place: Nancy Bolt, Diane Dorsett, Susan Perez, Susan Stiff, My Mom (Barbara Hulsing) and all our immediate families. I will need information on who knows about this place so far so we can be sure we are covering everyone.

Much Love!

Kevin

If you have time, you can send me an e-mail with news about who you are and what you do and when you were born and etc, and I will post it on this blog. Pictures are also welcomed!! We can get those posted too.

Moving On!!!

October 4, 2006 by

Alright cool. We can use this blog to keep people up-to-date on the reunion and various other news. What the hey? LOL.

Anyone can leave comments and view this blog. In order to become a contributor, editor or author of this blog however, you must register with WordPress.com. Then I can invite you to become an admin of this blog to be able to do more things than just leave comments.

Alrighty then. Two big issues that definitely need to be resolved amongst us ( and there ARE a lot of us!) is when to have the reunion and where to have the reunion. Another minor (or major) issue is the length of the reunion as well as accomodations, etc., etc.

Now Diane and Nancy seem to suggest that the summer of 2008 would be a good time. However, I believe my wife and Dawn already have plans for a reunion in Texas in the summer of 2008 for her family. From there we would travel to AZ to see Mark, Steph and Gracie for a little bit. But this does not mean that we would not be able to make the reunion — it depends on where it is and how we could handle it. For example, if it is near where we live, then I would be able to attend evening activities and weekend activities. Or if it is a four day event somewhere farther away, I might be able to squeeze out some more PTO for it.

So let the discussions begin!!! :-)

I am unsure how one can have this set up so as to be e-mailed a message if a new comment or new post is put up. It is kind of a pain to always try to remember to check a blog every once in a while. This blog site does have RSS feeds so you can use that to your advantage. If you are a contributor, then I believe you automatically get e-mails. I can find out more information to help anyone to set up these type of things, just let me know if you are interested ….

Okay. Better move on to other things! :-)

Love,

Kevin
